The postgraduate diploma programme, “Technical Conservation Studies” is a new programme, of which accreditation is currently pending. In accordance with legislation, the respective applications have accordingly been submitted and these are currently enjoying the consideration of the Council on Higher Education's Quality Assurance Committee (HEQC) and that of the Registrar at the national Department of Higher Education and Training.
Subject to the above, Technical Conservation Studies - a nominally one-year programme - will be offered as a postgraduate diploma programme at NQF exit level 8. The first presentation of this trimester-based programme will launch on 1 February 2017, with graduation scheduled for November 15 of that year. Offering preparation for both commercial enterprise and employment in conservation, the programme equally accommodates both the aspiring private practitioner and the candidate seeking employment in an institutional environment. The programme's first trimester is of an introductory nature, while the second trimester permits the student a degree of specialization. The third trimester introduces a supervised research component resulting in a project report (mini-dissertation). “View 2017 programme outline”
